Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has accused the big banks of subsidizing the oil sector and the war in Ukraine of encouraging the exploitation of fossil fuels.

The gas companies Air Liquide, Abello, Messer, Praxair and Sociedad Española de Carburos Metallic are also under investigation. According to the judge, they "agreed" to pay "the Equipo Economico Society" for tax reforms.

Red Eléctrica, the system operator, exonerates itself of its responsibility and attacks the power plants for failing to comply with technical protocols to prevent a collapse. The government, for its part, admits numerous errors, but also questions the operator's planning.
