The Spanish Government is monitoring the rise in gas station prices to determine whether there has been any infringement
The consumer association Facua has denounced that gas stations are taking advantage of the Iranian war to inflate prices and has called on the Spanish Government to intervene in the face of this' speculative 'behaviour.
The Spanish Government has instructed the National Commissionon Markets and Competition (CNMC) to monitor the prices of some 12,000 petrol stations registered in the Spanish State. Since the United States and Israel launched the war against Iran on 28 February, the aim is to examine whether the price of fuel has been legally set.
This has been confirmed at the subsequent hearing of the Council of Ministers by the Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Sara Aagesen, who, in her own words, last Friday sent a letter to the head of the CNMC ML0 calling for 'maximisation of the supervision' of the wholesale and retail energy markets to determine whether the price increase of the last few days has been moderate.
According to Aagesen, the prices of gas stations are being monitored at all times , but this work will be sharpened on the stage opened by the Iranian war. As soon as the result is available, it will also be communicated to the public. "It is essential," he added.
Facua's complaint.
Just this Tuesday the litre of diesel has risen by 8 cents , despite the decline in oil prices on international markets in recent hours. The consumer association Facua has denounced the fact that it accuses petrol stations of inflating prices and calls on the Spanish Government to intervene in the face of this' speculative 'behaviour.
According to data collected by Facua, the price of diesel has increasedinrecent days from 30 cents per litre , reaching a 2 euro barrier at various points.
The Association warns that these increases are not proportional to the actual evolution of the oil barrel and fuel market.
