The Basque Government will meet again this Tuesday with farmers to assess the impact of the drought

The Fodder Bureau will meet for the second time this Tuesday. The Basque Government and farmers will be back on the table todiscuss measures to combat drought.
On this occasion, the atmosphere is very rarefied and both sides will meet in a climate of protest, as last week's announcement by the Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries Adviser, Amaia Barredo , who, in an interview with the Basque Daily , reported that the Government will not promote a joint purchase of fodder, but that local suppliers have sufficient food for the coming months.
In recent days, the agricultural unions ENBA, EHNE and UAGA have criticized the attitude of the Vitoria-Gasteiz government and called for immediate action to address the "historic drought." The UAGA also called for the resignation of Counsellor Barredo, considering her "irresponsible attitude."
The Ataca Association — an association of farmers and farmers in Treviño and Álava — also called last week for the tractors to take to the streets and a broad response to the protest in Vitoria-Gasteiz. They want the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country to be declared a drought zone and to activate mechanisms to ensure animal feed.
At the end of July, the Basque Government convened the Bureau of Agriculture and Climate Change, a working group of deputies, diverse agricultural associations and local bodies, which analysed the effects of high temperatures and drought on livestock and agriculture.
At that meeting, two decisions were made: to convene the Fodder Table to discuss the possibility of joint purchases, and to set a meeting date for the Water Table.
