Labor conflict

The mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Maider Etxebarria, has been "optimistic" about the end of the gardener strike, which she hopes will end "as soon as possible."

The Enviser Works Council, which has been on strike since March, has today brought 5,098 signatures to the municipal offices in San Martin. Workers are calling for greater involvement from the City of Vitoria and are also grateful for the support they have received from citizens.

The General Representative of Álava, Ramiro González, has condemned the harassment of Beatriz Artolazabal, while criticizing the fact that EH Bildu has not done so, saying that "it is not the same to reject as to condemn." "Words are important," Gonzalez said in the microphones of Radio Vitoria. 

Rafael Busto, representative of the ELA union, says they don't want to point the finger at anyone. "We want to resolve our labor dispute. We don't blame anyone, but the City Council of Vitoria." 

Vitoria-Gasteiz councilwomanBeatriz Artolazabal has reported that pamphletswith insults and insulting symbols were thrown in front of her house on Thursday morning as part of the Enviser workers' strike.

The chairman of the Works Council, Koldo Uria, has denounced the lack of protocols to protect workers and has asked the Basque Government and Ilunion to keep the aggressors out of service. 

They have warned that "there is no end to the conflict" and have begun to collect signatures from citizens supporting their labour claims.

The company established two nine-hour days in March, a model that, according to CCOO, "ignores issues such as conciliation and rest."

This last-minute move will take place at the request of the ELA union, which yesterday presented a new proposal to the bases, which was approved in the vote and which they want to put back on track before the August holiday. 

According to the annual report on trade union action presented by the union, 61% of the conflicts have focused on collective bargaining and the defence of public services. Territorially, the largest number of conflicts have taken place in Bizkaia, but in terms of the number of workers, most of the fighting has taken place in Álava. 

The gardeners of Vitoria-Gasteiz demonstrated on Monday in front of the Basque Government and Enviser, the company contracted by the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz for the maintenance of the gardens, denouncing that they have already been on strike for four months to demand their own agreement and wage improvements, and that no progress has been made in the negotiation.

In an interview with Euskadi Irratia, the Industry Advisor, Mikel Irujo, has confirmed that there are six companies interested in analysing the situation of BSH and has ensured that all information will be forwarded to the Works Council.

The works council has reported that TCC, Mancomunidad and Pamplona City Council have been "abandoned". 

The unions called an assembly for the workers to give their opinion on this proposal in a vote, and finally ELA, LAB and ESK have reached an agreement to reject the offer and have a vote by the workers.

Bizkaia's self-schools have taken to the streets to demand a new agreement. Ainhoa Tirapu of the ELA union has explained that they have met with employers seven times but that there are no acceptable proposals on the table.
