Victims of male violence

The San Sebastian City Council Spokespersons Board has convened a rally for tomorrow at 11:45 a.m. in the gardens of Alderdi Eder.

The attack took place on Wednesday at a bar near Cam de Prats, where the judge has ordered the 42-year-old defendant to be placed in pre-trial detention.

The City of Dolores has decreed three days of mourning for these "terrible events" in the municipality and has decided to suspend all scheduled festive activities.

They will also file formal complaints with the Ombudsman and Emakunde about the "expiry" of the statements made at the trial by the Ertzaintza investigating team, which "made Maialen a victim again".

Virginia Urtaran, lawyer for Maialen Mazon's family, has valued  that the popular jury has not accepted the arguments the defense put forward as mitigating.

In the resolution, the arguments put forward by the defence as mitigating, that is, that at the time of the murder the accused was under the effects of alcohol or had a mental disturbance, cannot be considered proven, according to the jury. 

In the Araba Territorial Court, the parties are presenting their findings today in the trial for the murder of Maialen Mazon. The prosecution and the charges claim 45 years for murder, two abortions and the abandonment of a minor.

8 children of women killed by male violence against women in 2025 have been assisted. The assistance is aimed at children who are minors at the time of the mother's death and can be applied for until the age of 21. 

The events took place around 7:30 in Carabanchel. The health services were only able to confirm the death of the woman. Her head was beaten. As the investigation progressed, agents located a man in the house where the victim lived and near the scene and arrested him on charges of murder.

On Friday, the fifth session of the trial against the alleged murderer was held in the Provincial Court of Álava. Today, two experts from the Ertzaintza have testified that several samples of the defendant's clothes were being examined. Specifically, a stain on his pants and two stains on his shirt and slippers have been investigated and it has been concluded that the blood was blood stains and coincided with Mazon's DNA.

On the fourth day of the trial for the murder of Maialen Mazon, the mother of the alleged killer has also declared that her son is not capable of doing such a thing "under normal circumstances." 

On the second day of the trial for Maialen's murder, several witnesses have testified that Maialen was killed on 27 May by her partner in a hotel in Vitoria-Gasteiz, stabbing her 13. The charges say she acted with intent to kill, for which a 45-year prison sentence has been requested, while the defense alleges that she was "disconnected from reality."

The arrest was carried out by the local police of the Navarre capital early on Sunday.
