Victims of male violence

The 50-year-old man had a restraining order in force for another case of ill-treatment of the same person.

The accused has acknowledged the facts and the charges have agreed to reduce his request for a sentence from eleven to three years.

The victims include four women killed by their partners, a minor girl murdered by her father and two older women killed by their children.

In an institutional declaration issued this Tuesday on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Office of the Ombudsman of the Basque Country has denounced that male violence "continues to take the lives of the unburned every year" and "attacks the physical and moral integrity and dignity of women directly affected by this violence". 

The victim has been treated in a health facility and the detainee will be brought before the court.

Residents of the town of Rincón de la Victoria have warned of an altercation at around 10:20 a.m. When the officers arrived, they found the 60-year-old woman dead with signs of violence.

Of these, 374 were sexually assaulted, including 4 out of 10 minors. Between January and September 2025, 299 women were treated for sexual assault. 

The arrested man hit the woman and her brother with his vehicle on Sunday and the victims were taken to Baiona hospital.

Feminist associations are preparing the demonstrations of theInternational Dayfor the Elimination of Violence against Women . The Euskal Herria Feminist Movement has called demonstrations in the capitals of Hego Euskal Herria at 19:00 and in Baiona at 18:30.
