A man has been arrested at the A-68 on charges of assaulting his partner and offences against road safety
Several witnesses saw a man assaulting a woman in a service area in Ribaforada, and thanks to the help of the public he was stopped and arrested and was also driving under the influence of drugs and without a driver's license point.
The Foral Police have arrested a 47-year-old man accused of gender-based violence and road safety offences after being located on the A-68 after warning from citizens who witnessed an assault on his partner in a resting area of Ribaforada (Navarre).
In addition, the detainee, who was driving without points on his licence, tested positive for drugs, according to Foral Police.
The incident took place at 9 p.m. this Sunday in a resting area of the Ebro Highway (A-68) off Ribaforada, where several witnesses saw a man allegedly assaulting the woman accompanying him.
After the incident, the couple left the scene in a car and witnesses immediately called the Foral Police, who provided a detailed description of the vehicle.
With this information, officers of the Prevention and Citizen Care Brigade and the Traffic Brigade of the Tudela Police Station set up a search device that allowed the car to be intercepted minutes later at Kilometre 91 of the A-68.
After identifying the driver, the officers found that he had lost all points on his driving licence, so he is also being investigated for an alleged offence against road safety, as well as positive evidence for drug detection.
After the police action, the vehicle was stopped and the detainee was transferred to the premises of the Foral Police in Tudela for investigation and subsequent judicial custody.
