The lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, has denied that the Basque Country is experiencing a "climate of permanent tension", after the president of the Basque PP, Javier de Andrés, has assured us . He has attributed some of the discrepancies between the PNV and the PSE-EE in various areas to the "role of the Spanish Government".

Pello Otxandiano, spokesman for EH Bildu in the Basque Parliament, said: "For weeks now, differences on various issues have been public. We believe that this public debate is unproductive. This is not good for this country."
