As the company explained in a statement, the measure aims to improve users' understanding that people appearing in these profiles have been created through artificial intelligence.
Instagram began to test this identification earlier this year because thousands of users felt "cheated" by discovering that the profiles allegedly belonging to real people were those created by AI.
Thus, from now on, those responsible for these accounts will be able to self-activate the "AI generated profile" tag in profile settings.
In addition, Instagram will identify profiles that use people created by AI, and those responsible will receive a notification.
From there, they will have two options: to add the "profile created by artificial intelligence" tag or to appeal the decision if they think Instagram is wrong.
The measure will not affect users who use artificial intelligence tools to create or edit content.
