Day of vindication and solidarity on Saturday in Bilbao in the match between Euskal Selekzioa and Palestine
Together with Saturday's friendly in San Mamés, there will be a number of out-of-sport events: two demonstrations called in the afternoon, and homage and cultural activities starting in the morning.
Bilbao will live this Saturday a day ofsocial mobilization and vindication, coinciding with the friendly between the Euskal Selekzioa and Palestine. Beyond football, the event has aroused a broad and special response from the citizens in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in defence of the official recognition of the Euskal Selekzioa.
Since the morning, various events have been organized in the capital city, including the special edition of Bilbo Kantari called by Bilboko Konpartsak and the tribute to the deceased Palestinian athletes organized by the Solidarity with Palestine platform.
In the afternoon, themain events will take place: two demonstrations almost simultaneously. The first, promoted by theGernika-Palestine initiative , will depart at 5.30 p.m. from the Arriaga Theatre under the slogan "Free peoples, genocide stop" . The second, organized by the platform Solidarity with Palestine , will depart at 6.30 p.m. from the Arenal to demand solidarity with Palestine and official recognition of the Basque Country.
The first mobilization will involve Gure Esku and Gu Ere Bai , while the second will involve sports-related animation groups such as the Popular Stand, Impulse, Red Force and RevolutionIñigo Cabacas.
Among the political parties, EH Bildu has announced his support for the Gernika-Palestine demonstration, and the PNV has called on its affiliates to move to San Mamés under the slogan "From officiality to freedom" .
With 50,000 tickets exhausted and the entire city plunged into that rendezvous, the match between Euskal Selekzioa and Palestine will become a day beyond sport, a symbol of collective vindication and solidarity.
