Argitan describes male violence as structural after the murder in Barakaldo
The feminist association has concentrated on denouncing the latest macho murder and condemning violence against women.
The feminist association Argitan has denounced the macho murder that took place on Sunday in Barakaldo. In a statement, Argitan has expressed its deepest condemnation and warned that these murders confirm that violence against women is not an isolated event, but a permanent reality that permanently endangers women's lives, integrity and freedoms.
The association insists that male violence is structural and goes through all spheres of life, both public and private, from partner relationships and the family environment to social and labour spaces. "It's not a one-off problem, it's machismo and a system of inequality that goes through us in many ways," the association says.
Argitan calls for the focus to be on the aggressors and men who reject the equality and autonomy of women, who recognize no limits or the right to decide. According to the association, this resistance to equality and the attempt to maintain control and domination support and reproduce male violence.
The communiqué also warns of the progress of speeches that minimize or deny sexist violence and inequality, a trend that, they warn, encourages impunity, undermines the legitimacy of victims and hinders an effective social and collective response.
Finally, Argitan has expressed her support and solidarity with the victim's family, friends and environment, and has reaffirmed her commitment to continue working so that women do not have to live in fear or domination and that male violence does not take away other lives.
