A man has been arrested in Basauri on charges of killing his partner
The victim, a 44-year-old woman, died after becoming unwell.
The Ertzaintza arrested a 45-year-old man in Basaurion Fridayfor hisalleged involvement in the death of his partner in the Elexalde neighbourhood, while investigating whether this was a murder related to gender-based violence.
The victim, a 44-year-old woman, was unwell in her home on Wednesday morning and the health workers who came to the scene tried to revive her, but died instantly.
According to the first medical examinations, there aresigns of violence, so the Ertzaintza opened an investigation to clarify what happened.
Around 09:15 this morning, the man was arrested in Bilbao on charges of murder forgender-based violence . The investigation is still open.

Basauri City Councilhas "strongly condemned" the alleged macho murder and Mayor Asier Iragorrihas announced a repulsive rally and an institutional declaration through the Board of Spokespersons.
