Hamas approves a ceasefire proposal for Gaza
According to the proposal, the armed group would accept a 60-day ceasefire in exchange for the release of 10 Israeli hostages and massive aid to the Gazatis. For the time being, Israel has not issued a statement on the matter.

The Islamist group Hamas confirmed on Monday that it has accepted a ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip, but has not given details of the conditions, and Israelhas so far made no statement on the matter.
"Hamas and the Palestinian factions have announced that they will accept the proposal put forward yesterday by the Egyptian and Qatari mediators," the Palestinian group said in a brief statement.
The message comes after Israeli media and some Arab media have claimed that the Islamist militia has agreed to sign a partial agreement seeking the release of some hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from the north and east of the settlement.
On Monday, an Egyptian source told EFE that Hamas has given its approval to the latest ceasefire proposal following a meeting between Egyptian and Qatari mediators with the leaders of the delegation in Egypt.
The plan includes freezing the group's military activities in the Gaza Strip, a 60-day ceasefirein exchange forthe release of 10 Israeli hostages by Hamas and massive aid to the Gazatis.
"The proposal states that Israel will allow the safe passage of humanitarian aid trucks, as well as the withdrawal of the Israeli army from areas where it entered after the breakdown of the ceasefire agreement on 2 March," added the source, which did not specify the number of Palestinian prisoners that Israel would release in exchange for Israeli hostages.
Following the news, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that Hamas's willingness to return to the negotiating table is due solely to Israel's threat to conquer Gaza, while Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has stressed that the Islamists have been under "tremendous pressure."
