"Palestine 36" opens the San Sebastian Film and Human Rights Festival
The festival, which will hold its 23rd edition from 23 to 30 April, will discuss, among other things, the role of women in religions, the climate emergency, the feminization of precariousness and the situation of trans people in rural areas.
Jacier's film is "about a dark moment in our history, and we started working before we knew we were going to live through one of the darkest moments we've ever experienced." It's set in 1936. As the Palestinian villages of the British Presidency rise up against British colonial domination, Yusuf wanders between his country house and the living city of Jerusalem in search of a dignified future.
In addition to Palestine, the festival will bring women closer to the most organized religions, the climate emergency (a work filmed by Navarro Natxo Leuza in Bangladesh will be shown), the feminization of precariousness and the situation of trans people in rural areas.
