In June, hotel accommodation in the Basque Country increased by almost 10% over a year ago
The tourism data for June in the Basque Country have increased in all areas, with an average hotel room price of 8% more expensive, 138 euros, and room occupancy of almost 80%, slightly more than 3%. The largest increase in passenger arrivals in Gipuzkoa, 11.30%, although it is Bilbao that grows the most among the capitals.
In the first half of the year, hotels and hostels in the Basque Country registered 4.6% more visitors than in the same period of 2024, and overnight stays increased by 5.4%, data published on Monday by Eustat, the Basque Institute of Statistics.
In June, hotel establishments in the Basque Country received 9.8% more visitors than a year ago, namely 368,409, and overnight stays increased by 8.7%.
By territory, although tourism has increased in all of them, has the lowest growthin Álava . In June 45,573 visitors were received by local accommodation and hotels (1.9% more). In Bizkaia, 167,392 travellers (10.7% more) and 155,444 people visited hotels and accommodation in Gipuzkoa, 11.5% more than in June 2024.
By capital, visits to Vitoria-Gasteiz have increased by 0.9%, in Donostia-San Sebastián by 7.4% and in Bilbao by 11.2%.
The average price of thehotel room has been 138.3 euros, 8% more expensive. Gipuzkoa is the most expensive territory and Donostia the most expensive capital: the average price of the hotel room of the day is 208.4 euros. In Bilbao it costs 140.1 euros on average and in Vitoria-Gasteiz 82.4 euros.
