Tax collection in the Basque Country has increased by 10.8% in the first half of 2025
The three Basque treasuries collected 11,173.7 million euros until July 2025, an increase of 10.8% over the same period last year and 1,092.9 million more.
The increase was higher in Gipuzkoa, where the collection of concerted taxes increased by 16.3 per cent, 10.6 per cent in Álava and 6.6 per cent in Bizkaia.
As of July, the collection has evolved favourably, which means that the cumulative percentage in the first half of the year was two points lower (8.8%). Bizkaia has grown the least. Bizkaia, as always, is the largest but the least growing treasury. It has raised 6,618 million euros, 6.6% more than in the same period of the previous year.
The IRPF, driven by the 6.7% increase in job retention and after the end of this year's campaign, grew by 8.9% in total, while the Corporation Tax fell by 19.7% as a result of the amount of self-liquidations to be included in the 2024 tax campaign.
As far as indirect taxes are concerned, as of July, 2,420.6 million euros were collected in Bizkaia (134.4 million more than in 2024). There was a positive development in VAT on its own management (+8.5%), but hydrocarbon taxation was similar to the level of the previous year (+0.5%). Gipuzkoa increased by 16.3%.
