The LAB union reported on Tuesday that the person who died on Monday in a car accident in the port of Azazeta (Álava) was working in the home help sector of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
According to the union, the 56-year-old man was working in the service of the company Serveo and died in a work-related accident. LAB has conveyed its condolences and solidarity to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.
The union alleges that the working conditions of home help workers are "very precarious" and that workers are forced to make numerous journeys in a very short period of time, in a context of increasing workload.
"The ratios, pace of work and limited travel times that companies set to ensure their profits increase the risk of work," he has criticized.
It also denounces that the sector is currently "completely privatized, with rare exceptions" and that, in the opinion of the trade union, "privatisation leads to precariousness and such tragic events".
