The ELA union has denounced the recurrence of accidents at the plant and has called for "real and effective" preventive measures to ensure the safety of workers.
The operator has suffered two broken bones of one arm and an arterial injury and is currently undergoing surgery, ELA said.
The union has stressed that "this is not an isolated event", but that "there have already been many accidents in this company, which shows a worrying frequency and a situation of constant risk".
ELA has recalled that it has long denounced "the persistent lack of preventive measures and poor management of safety and health, urging Arcelor Mittal to take real and effective measures once and for all to ensure the integrity of workers".
