The Council and the Basque Government maintain their plan to invest 300 million in Urdaibai
Since July, the Council, together with the Government and "20 municipalities", has been implementing a plan to promote "business competitiveness" through the creation of industrial land, the strengthening of vocational training, measures to value the strengths of the economic sectors in the region and the creation of new activities around them.
The Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Basque Government will maintain the Busturialdea-Urdaibai Strategic Plan, in collaboration with the municipalities of the area, which envisages an investment of 300 million to boost the economic activity, infrastructure and well-being of the region.
Following the announcement by the Guggenheim Board of the rejection of the expansion of the museum in Urdaibai, the Bizkaia Economic Promotion Member, Ainara Basurko, recalled on Radio Euskadi that in 2024 both institutions considered this region a "priority area of action" and therefore remain committed to the strategic plan for 2030, which envisages 13 driving projects.
Since July, the Council, together with the Government and "20 municipalities", has been implementing this plan to promote the"competitiveness of enterprises" by creating industrial land, strengthening vocational training, taking measures to value the strengths of the economic sectors in the region and trying to generate new activities around them.
In addition, it will involve investments in mobility and communication infrastructures, take measures to improve the well-being of citizens and create projects to value the natural, historical and cultural heritage of the territory, Basurko has noted.
This plan will mobilise EUR 78.4 million by 2030 , of which EUR 54.4 million will be provided by the Member of Parliament and the remaining EUR 24 million by the Basque Government.
To these must be added another EUR 225 million already budgeted, in many cases for activities beyond 2030, of which the Member of the European Parliament will contribute EUR 165 million and the Basque Government EUR 60 million.
