The Ministry of Labour has proposed to the social partners a 3.1% increase in the Interprofessional Minimum Wage (SMI) by 2026, keeping this pay reference exempt from tax , which would mean an increase in the SMI from €1,184 gross per month to €1,221 gross in fourteen payments (€37 more).
This was reported by the Secretary of State for Employment, Joaquin Pérez Rey, at the press conference he offered on leaving the meetingof the Bureau of Social Dialogue with the social partners this morning.
Perez Rey has described the conversation as "honest and constructive" and employers and trade unions are committed to studying the proposal and consulting the governing bodies.
The Ministry of Labour, for its part, has put on the table its intention with the Ministry of Finance to "consider relaxing the rules of desindexation relating to the impact of public wage contracts".
