Farmers in Álava have called off protests against the Mercosur agreement
Convened by Ataca Treviño and the Araba Landaren Alde Association, they were planning to protest again today at A-1, but they have finally abandoned it on the grounds that there has been a high turnout in this week's calls and that their demands have been heard.
The Ataca Treviño and Álava Rural Association has today suspended the planned protest with tractors on the A-1, which began on 8 January to denounce the trade agreement betweenthe European Union and Mercosur .
Even today they were taking tractors to the A-1 off San Millán Durruma (near Araia).
Raul Beitia, spokesman for Ataca, has explained that has been suspended on the grounds that participation in this week's calls has been high and that their demands have been heard.
