By territory, the year-on-year CPI was 3.1 per cent in Álava, 3 per cent in Bizkaia and 0.1 per cent in Gipuzkoa, with an increase of 0.3 per cent over November in Álava and 0.1 per cent in Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa.
By sector, in the Basque Country, the year-on-year CPI increases by 3.9% in Food and falls to 2% in Transport, while in Housing it increases by 5.3%.
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 3.5 per cent; clothing and footwear fell by 1.7 per cent; menage fell by 1.1 per cent; medicine by 2.2 per cent; communications by 1.6 per cent; and leisure and culture by 0.3 per cent.
In the teaching section it remained at 2.3% and in Hotels, Cafes and Restaurants 5.4%.
In Navarre, the December Consumer Price Index (CPI)stood at 2.6%, four tenths lower than in November, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics.
Alcoholic beverages (4.7 per cent) and Housing (4.6 per cent) are the groups with the largest increase, followed by Hotels, Cafes and Restaurants (3.7 per cent).
In Spainas a whole, the CPI fell by a tenth in December, to 2.9%year-on-year, due to lower fuel prices and a slight increase in tourism packages, while food inflation rose by two tenths, to 3%.
Eggs and beef are the most expensive foods in Spain by 2025, closing December with increases of 31.3% and 17.2%, respectively.
Food and non-alcoholic beveragesprices rose by 3% in December compared to the close of 2024, while olive oil was the best-selling food in 2025, with an annual decline of 31.6%, according to INE data.
