The secret of a separate piece of the investigation opened to Jainaga for selling steel to Israel has been removed
The court decision was issued one day after the Spanish National Police entered the Sidenor headquarters in Basauri.
The Central Court of Instance has decided to lift the secrecy of a separate piece of the case initiated by the President of Sidenor, José Antonio Jainaga , and two other directors for the alleged sale of steel items to an Israeli arms company without authorization.
The court decision comes one day after the Spanish National Police entered the headquarters of Sidenor in Basauri , where officerssearched for several hours and collected information on the sale of steel to Israel by the Basque steel industry.
With regard to this activity, the company specified that it had cooperated with the authorities "to ensure that any information they required was transmitted responsibly and transparently".
In October last year, the judge of the Spanish National High Court (now the Central Court of Instance), Francisco de Jorge, decided to investigate the President of Sidenor for the crime of smuggling and for complicity or genocide in a crime against humanity for selling steel items to Israel Military Industries (IMSI)without authorization.
The court is also investigating two other directors for these facts, who believe they "fully knew that he was a manufacturer of heavy and light weapons, and that the material sold would be used for the manufacture of weapons . "
In addition, he claims that the sale of steel was carried out "without the need for authorization from the Spanish Government and without registration in the relevant register, as recorded in a trade of the General Information Police Station on 10 September ".
On 12 November last year, José Antonio Jainaga and the two directors of the Basque company declared that they had been investigated in the case initiated following a complaint by the Comunitat Palestina de Catalunya-Terra Santa.
Jainaga stated in his statement that Sidenor had not committed "any irregularities in the sale of steel to Israel", since steel produced by Sidenor and exported to Israel was not "among the products requiring special administrative control".
