Unemployment at the decisive meeting of Tubos Reunidos' ERE
The workers in the Amurrio workforce started more stops last night, coinciding with the decisive meeting between the management and the committee to discuss the Employment Regulation Dossier (ERE), which ends today if there is no agreement or no extension.
The labor dispute at Tubos Reunidos is today an important day. Management and the Works Council will hold the last meeting of the consultation period of the Employment Regulation Dossier (ERE), butthe\ u00A0 positions are still far away and there is no significant progress in the negotiation.
In parallel with this meeting, the workers began a new strike at the Amurrio factory last night at 22:00. According to the announced schedule, the stops on Monday and Tuesday will be 24 hours and from Wednesday to Sunday four hours per shift.
The Employment Regulation Dossier proposed by the Directorate provides for a total of 301 redundancies, 274 at the Amurrio plant and 37 at the Trapagaran plant. At previous meetings, the company has improved its proposal, but the trade unions reject the file and demand its withdrawal on the grounds that it is not justified.
If no agreement is reached today and the consultation period is not extended, the company will have to decide on the next steps, including removing the ERE, trying to apply it unilaterally or asking the court to start a pre-competition of creditors.
On the other hand, trade unions may file a complaint with the Labour Inspectorate or apply to the Social Court to try to freeze the case.
While the negotiating meeting is taking place, on Monday there will be protests in Bilbao and on Tuesday a new rally will be held in front of the company's offices in the capital city, on which day the workers will hold an information meeting at the entrance to the Amurrio factory, once it is known whether the consultation period continues or ends definitively.
