The Ministry of Health will hold two meetings this week to discuss the labor dispute with medical unions, which has led to several strike days across the state.
On the one hand, on Thursday 26 March, the Ministry and the Strike Committeewill meet , which includes the Spanish Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM), the Andalusian Medical Union (SMA), Metges de Catalunya (MC), the Madrid Association of Doctors and Higher Graduates (AMYTS), the Basque Medical Union (SME) and the Galician Independent Medical Union (O'MEGA).
With regard to the Assembly, the trade unions denounce the lack of progress on the part of the Ministry in relation to the demands that led to the convening of mobilizations. The group calls for an agreement to create a statute for doctors of its own, the creation of a negotiating table of its own and a professional classification that reflects the uniqueness of these professions.
The Ministry has responded to the trade union warning by saying that "there is a need for willingness to agree, flexibility and adaptation to the legal framework".
Friday with the Autonomous Communities
On the other hand, the meeting of the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System was scheduled for Friday, 27 March, and the Ministry has included an item on the medical strike on the agenda, at the request of several Autonomous Communities.
The Councils of Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, the Basque Country, Extremadura and Madrid sent a written request for the inclusion of the medical strike as a specific point of negotiation with the trade unions and for the care and economic consequences of the stoppages in their health services.
