Pensioners will again demand in Vitoria next Thursday that minimum pensions be supplemented up to the SMI
With this mobilisation, they would like to remind the Basque Government and Parliament that 'the commitment that the supplement to minimum pensions should reach the SMI cannot be extended any longer, especially when the cost of living is becoming significantly higher', pensioners have argued.
The Euskal Herria Pensioners' Movement (MPEH) will demonstrate next Thursday in Vitoria-Gasteiz to demand that minimum pensions be supplemented to the Interprofessional Minimum Wage.
The march will begin at 11:00 in Bilbao Square and end in front of the New Cathedral, after passing the seat of Parliament.
New requests for meetings with the Committee on Governance, Economy and Employment and the Committee on Equality have been registered in Parliament because 'so far we have not received a response to previous requests', the Pensioners' Movement has denounced in a statement, recalling that letters were also distributed to the parliamentary groups of the PNV and the PSE.
With all these initiatives, they want to keep their fight alive by reminding the Basque Government and Parliament that 'the commitment to raise the minimum pension supplement to the SMI cannot be extended, especially at a time when the cost of living is becoming very high'.
"The PNV-PSE coalition government and the majority of the Parliament they control will only listen to this request if they encounter a strong social response," the group reflects.
"We know that only continuing to fight bears fruit, so on the 7th we will take another strong mobilization to the streets of Vitoria-Gasteiz," they have announced, reporting that 13 buses will arrive that day from Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa to attend the demonstration.
