LAB supports the possibility of Tubos Reunidos calling off the strike and ESK advocates extending it
The unions ELA, LAB and ESK have convened a meeting for this Friday in Tubos Reunidos, a majority on the works council in Amurrio (Álava), which currently maintains an indefinite strike whose continuation LAB has been willing to discuss, while ESK has been in favour of extending it.
The Assembly, which will begin at 9 a.m., aims to " make collective decisions necessary to deal with this new phase ".
This Thursday, LAB's General Coordinator , Igor Arroyo, has been willing to discuss the continuation of unemployment. In statements to Radio Vitoria, Arroyo has assured thatthe strike "has achieved its objectives, so it is appropriate" to consider and discuss the continuity of the strike. He has recalled that the company is in competition with creditors and that they will have to decide "what is the best way to fight" for the future.
On the other hand, ESKhas announced that its bet is to continue the indefinite strike , which it considers "essential." In a statement, it states that "to leave the strike now, without abandoning theERE, would be to give the company and the insolvency administrator the social peace they need to move forward with the same measures we are facing. "
In addition, they recall that on 26 May the judge summoned the insolvency administrator, management and trade unions to see what labour measures can be taken. "This shows that the company continues to manage, has decision-making power and can withdraw the ERE," concludes ESK.
