LAB maintains the June 4 strike in Basque municipalities due to lack of agreement on Udalhitz
They have also called for a demonstration from 12:00 in the centre of Bilbao. The union has pointed out that there are significant differences in the standardisation of the Basque language and in the public management of municipal services, among others.
Inthe municipalities of the ACV has confirmed the callforstrike LAB for 4 June, considering that there is insufficient progress in negotiating the renewal of the Udalhitz agreementregulating the working conditions of municipal workers .
The union, which has called for the mobilization to be strengthened, in addition tothe call for a demonstration from 12:00 hours from the centre of Bilbao, has taken this decision following the last meeting of the negotiating table. According to LAB, no agreement has been reached before the scheduled date for the strike.
The union says that before 4 June it submitted a proposal with the changes aimed at facilitating a principle of agreement, but denounces that the institutional representation refused to convene a new meeting before the day of unemployment. Although the parties will meet again on 12 June, LAB believes that the refusal to negotiate before the strike demonstrates the unwillingness to unblockthe conflict.
The main demands include the reductionof the validity of the agreement, measures to curb privatisations and the recovery of public management services, the reduction of the temporary period, the improvement of the mobility of staff and the promotion of selective processes of their own agreed with trade union representation.
The union has also called for actions to restore lost purchasing power, advance the career for all workers, strengthen occupational risk prevention policies and ensure the knowledge and use of the Basque language in local governments.
LAB has assured that in the negotiation PNV, the party led by Eudel, has stated that it will not change its current position and that the PSE-EEhas maintained a passive position, while stressing that EH Bildu has shown its willingness to continue studying proposals and trying to bring positions closer together.
Faced with this situation, the union maintains the call for a strike and calls on municipal workers to participate in the mobilizations to demand progress in the renewal of Udalhitz.
