Workers in the event and entertainment sector are today , August 26, in Bizkaia, on a day of strike in the framework of the Aste Nagusia in Bilbao, following the previous days of strike in Álava and Gipuzkoa, in accordance with the calendar of mobilizations launched in August in the capitals of the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV).
The main mobilisation will take place in the Plaza del Arriaga , where a rally will take place at 5 p.m.Throughout the day pickets will take place in different areas of Bilbao. Hala, at noon they will be in the Pergola and at 23:30h they will return to that point. They will also be at the kiosk of the Arenal at 14:00h.
The Teknikariok Association, together with theunions ESK, LAB, UGT, CC. OO., ELA and CNT , have called for a collective agreement for the sector that guarantees "decent working conditions. "
Many shows canceled
Among the suspended events and activities are several musical performances , shows and cultural proposals scheduled in different spaces. The convenors warn, however, that as the day progresses, other events may also be suspended. The strike had previously affected the festivities of the White Virgin of Vitoria-Gasteiz (August 5) and the Big Donostiarra Week (August 14); in both cases, several performances were cancelled.
In this context, Bilboko Konpartsak has shown solidarity with the staff and has decided to suspend the musical programming planned for today with various proposals scheduled in the afternoon and early morning . The organization has explained that the decision to suspend the programming has been made out of solidarity with the technicians.

The trade unions have accused the EUKI employers of blocking negotiations and have demanded that public institutions, which hire or subsidise a large number of shows, ensure "adequate working conditions" to guarantee "the right to reconcile work and personal life".

Workers have complained that "companies want a 24/7 ready workforce," and have summed up their claim: "We want to organize our lives, not be slaves to flexibility." Trade unions have also warned that some of these situations violate basic labor rights.
