They call for a strike in the metal trade in Bizkaia on 7 October in favour of a new agreement
The unions ELA, UGT, CCOO and LAB have decided to update their wages in accordance with the CPI and to reduce their working hours to 1,725 hours per year in other trade agreements in Bizkaia.
ELA, together with the UGT, CCOO and LAB unions, which make up the metal trade sector in Bizkaia, have called for a strike on 7 October due to the lack of progress in negotiating an agreement that has lost more than six years. In a statement released this morning, ELA states that wages in the sector do not exceed 18,000 euros a year and that workers have lost purchasing power due to rising prices.
The strike will affect several establishments in the sector, including jewellery stores, jewellery stores, optics and mobile phone stores.
Faced with this situation, the workers demand decent wages updated in accordance with the CPI, as well as a reduction in working hours in order to bring them closer to the 1,725 hours per year set out in other trade agreements in Bizkaia, which are currently 1,758 hours per year.
