CC. OO. and UGT call for a general strike this fall
The final date of the 24-hour unemployment will be set alongside social platforms and the Tenants' Union in the next few days.
CC.OO. and UGT have agreed to a 24-hour general strike for the autumn to demand decent wages and decent housing, a measure that must now be ratified by the highest governing bodies, as announced by both organizations in a statement.
The unions have taken this step after the Congress of Deputies last Friday rejected the royal decrees on housing, a situation in which they have decided to include labour claims in social mobilizations, in line with the movements of tenants and neighbourhood associations.
The final date of the 24-hour unemployment will be setalongside social platforms and the Tenants Union .
"Last weekend's demonstrations have demonstrated the strength of this demand and the response must be built among all the institutions that support it," they argued.
The trade unions place this protest in their demands for the Sixth Agreement on Employment and Collective Bargaining (AENC), which raises wage increases of between 4% and 7% with the revision clauses, and in the "Decalogue for the Right to Housing", which calls for the social pact, the limitation of rents, the creation of a public and permanent park of protected housing and the "real" application of the Right to Housing Act in all territories.
Through this call, the CC.OO. and UGT Trade Unions call on business organizations to unblock collective bargaining and ensure the remuneration necessaryfor the acquisition of basic goods, as well as the competent public administrations for the effective implementation of legislation on the right to housing.
