The project to get the High Speed Train to Vitoria-Gasteiz envisages a station with an underground lobby of 6,000 square meters and a parking lot of 200 seats, with an investment of 300 million euros.
The mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Maider Etxebarria, has expressed her satisfaction with the progress made and the commitment of the Spanish Government to speed up the project and has stressed that the request to install a two-storey parking space has been approved: the first has 50 places, especially for people with reduced mobility, and the second 150. "Vitoria-Gasteiz cannot wait any longer, we need a suitable station," she said.
The General Member of Álava, Ramiro González, has warned that the proposal maintains the arrival of the surface train and does not clarify when the burial will take place. Adif has promised to convene a new council to draw up a timetable for action, including the freight variant, but there is no specific date to complete the integration of the railway.
On the other hand, Santano has argued that the project is progressing as planned and that it is necessary to speed up the work in view of the increase in the number of passengers planned for 2036. He has explained that the action will be carried out in phases and has stressed that the underground lobby, the gateways to connect with the city and the parking are part of the new proposal to provide Vitoria-Gasteiz with a suitable station for the arrival of the high speed.
