Found in Asturias the body that could belong to the man who disappeared in May in Bakio
On 27 May, a 52-year-old man disappeared after going to the beach of Bakio. As soon as the emergency services of the Basque Country received a warning, work began to locate the missing person without success. Searches were carried out at sea between Cape Matxitxako and Lemoniz.
The Civil Guard has found in the waters of Asturias the body of a 50-year-old man who, according to the first investigations, could have disappeared when he went to the beach of Bakio (Bizkaia) at the end of May.
According to sources from the Asturias Civil Guard, the body was found at around 3 p.m. yesterday in the open sea, perpendicular to the port of Lastres-Colunga.
A Civil Guard vessel came to the scene and recovered the man's body. It matches the description of the missing man in Bakio.
The remains were transferred to the Oviedo Institute of Legal Medicine for autopsy and identification.
Disappearance
The 52-year-old man disappeared on May 27 after going to Bakio beach.
Emergency services found his belongings in the sand and his car parked by the beach, but there was no sign of him.
They searched between Cape Matxitxako and Lemoiz, but they did not find him.
The Ertzaintza Surveillance and Rescue Unit was involved in the search with a helicopter, water section and sea Red Cross.
