The State Meteorology Agency (AEMET) has indicated for this Saturday that there is a "high" and "very high" risk of forest fires in several Navarre territories, so SOS Navarra recommends avoiding any activity that may lead to fires.
In the event of a fire, the Government of Navarre has drawn up the following list of recommendations to deal with the situation:
- If the fire is small, try to extinguish the flames from the base using water, soil or bush branches.
- If the size of the fire makes it impossible to approach, move away from where there is less vegetation and move away in the opposite direction to the wind.
- Protect the airways and try not to get tired.
- If you can't escape the fire, find a burnt area or clearing, lie on your back and cover yourself with wet clothes or soil.
