The storm has left two dead in Valencia, where the government is preparing a restraining order
The Emergency Coordination Centre has sent another Es-Alert message to the citizens of Alicante and Valencia asking them not to travel.
The storm caused by the high depression of Adam has already left two dead in Valencia and caused "disproportionate" rains and major floods in the provinces of Valencia and Alicante, where more than 600 litres per square metre have been accumulated, rivers have overflowed and several citizens have been trapped on roofs, a situation that has led the Valencian Government to prepare a restraining order for the municipalities concerned.
After a rainy night, the Generalitat is preparing the confinement order in the coastal municipalities of southern Valencia and northern Alicante, and emergency services have activated helicopters to rescue those trapped by the floods.
In addition, the Emergency Coordination Centre has sent another Es-Alert message to the inhabitants of the two provinces of Levante, requesting that they avoid any movement, remain locked in their homes and climb to the upper floors, without access to basements or garages and without using elevators.
So far, the emergency services have handled 781 flood incidents, 381 in the province of Alicante and 400 in the province of Valencia.

Adam has left two dead, two women, one in Catalonia, dragged by the river, and one in Sagunto, Valencia, who was bathing on the beach of Corinth.

For its part, the Military Emergency Unit (EMU) has left its base in Bétera (Valencia) to intervene in Oliva (Valencia), while in the town of Pego (Alicante) 620.6 litres per square metre have been collected in the last 24 hours and several people are on rooftops waiting to be rescued by air, according to the mayor, Enrique Moll.
In addition, due to the intensity of rainfall, the Girona River has overflowed around Els Poblets (Alicante), causing flooding.
Classes have been suspended for 102,000 students, 80,913 in the province of Valencia and 21,868 in Alicante.
Balearic Islands on alert
The state of alert is also in place in the Balearic Islands, and the government has activated a red emergency in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera due to extreme risk.
Aemet has placed the alert level in orange in Ibiza and Formentera for precipitation of 50 l/m² in one hour, with the possibility of accumulating 160 l/m² in twelve hours.
Faced with this situation, another Es-Alert message is hard to get to Ibiza's mobile phones to ask for attention and not to go to flooded areas.
