The fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon on Mount San Pelayo in the Riojana town of Gimileo is under control after reaching southern Álava. The Guard Brigades and the Nanclares de la Oca Fire Brigade were involved in the extinction, which was suffocated late in the night without significant damage in Álava.
The fire broke out at about six o'clock in the evening, and, driven by the wind, in a little more than an hour crossed the Ebro, the natural boundary between La Rioja and Álava, and spread through a hump.
Meanwhile, in Navarre, firefighters and air assets continue to work on the forest fire in Carcastillo, which has burned 220 hectares, mostly cracked pine. Although the fire is perimeter and stabilized, it is still active, so cooling and control of hot spots is essential to prevent shoots.
