On Friday afternoon, the first measures to reduce water consumption in the Northern Basque Country, driven by the lack of rain, will enter into force. The Prefecture has declared a situation of drought, and these special measures represent the second step in this plan.
Thus, the irrigationof gardens, golf courses and sports fields, the filling of swimming pools, or the washing of cars, among others, will be prohibited. In particular, from 08:00 in the morning to 20:00 in the evening , the fields and gardens of the house will not be allowed to be watered or private cars cleaned at home.
The Prefecture has raised the alert in the Aturi and Er￮ basins, as well as in the Bidasoa and Urdazubi , where the Iholdi Creek would be most serious.
