Abascal has called for the "seizure and shipwreck" of the Open Arms "Negreros" docked in Tenerife
The President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, believes that the statements of Vox's leader belong to a "true fascist."
Vox's president , Santiago Abascal, has called for the "seizure and sinking" ofthe ship of the NGO Open Arms docked in Tenerife.
"This Negrero ship must be confiscated and sunk, which will serve to warn of the end of all the rich and politicians who are promoting the invasion of Europe," he wrote on the 'X' social network.
Canary President Fernando Clavijo believes Vox leader Santiago Abascal's statements about the Open Arms are the words of a "true fascist . "
During his visit to the ship, Clavijo said that he believes that those who hold a position of responsibility "and unfortunately (Abascal) have it" should be more cautious, because then others cannot be prevented from acting against them with the same firmness.
"This is nonsense, it only generates anger and unease and it does democracy a disservice, unless Abascal is also disturbed by democracy, as we already believe," said the head of the Canary Islands Government.
Clavijo has stated that, just as he respects that political party, even if he disagrees with his speech, he expects that force with representation in Congress and the Senate to do the same.
The president has defended the work of the NGO Open Arms to respect human life and show solidarity, and has said that if Abascal were to sink, Open Arms would rescue him, while he has questioned whether the leader of Vox would go to the rescue of the ship.
SMH has expressed its solidarity with Opern Arms.
The NGO Maritime Humanitarian Rescue (SMH), in response to Vox's statements, has expressed its "solidarity and support for all crews who daily defend life and dignity in the central Mediterranean."
SMH recalls that this is not the first time that Santiago Abascal's party has made such statements, so in Burriana, Jesús Albiol, a councillor and deputy in the Cortes Valencianas de Vox, described Aita Mari as "a ship of 21st century negreros"; he was sued for insults and slander.
Faced with this, the SMH has conveyed its full solidarity and support to the Open Arms Foundation and "all crews defending life and dignity in the Central Mediterranean".
