These are the precautionary measures against contagious nodular dermatosis in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa
Animal markets and gatherings shall be suspended for all species except dogs and cats, and measures shall be activated to control the movement of animals, disinfect vehicles and transport elements and remove insects.
It is already official, the order of the Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government published this Friday, that from today the livestock fairs in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country will be temporarily suspended due to the Contagious Nodular Dermatosis (DNK) .
The measures will be in force until 30 November, but can be extended depending on the epidemiological evolution of the Contagious Nodular Dermatosis.
The decision has been taken by the Basque Government as a preventive measure against the 'epidemiological situation in neighbouring countries and regions' such as France and Girona (Catalonia):
The main measures taken by the Basque Government are:
- Fairs, competitions, competitions, "rural sports", markets and the suspension of any temporary event for all species except dogs and cats (except "Members of Parliament may exceptionally authorize the holding of socially rooted events of a single animal species, other than cows").
- Establish the obligation to disinfect and deinsecrate all livestock transport vehicles that have entered or left the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country 24 hours before the construction. Among the documentation to be submitted with the items, a certificate of disinfection and deinsecting issued by a centre for this purpose or a responsible declaration of disinfection and deinsecting of the means of transport and animals.
- Prohibition of entry into the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country of animals from farms declared as restricted areas against the Polluting Nodular Dermatosis (DNK).
- Conduction of 21 days of compulsory quarantine for all animals of the bovine species of the farm that have received animals from restricted areas in the 21 days prior to the publication of the order. Borld of animals which, although coming from free areas, have travelled through restricted areas during the transfer.
- The movements of cattle in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country must be direct between the farm of origin and the destination, and the vehicle will be disinfected and deinsected before loading. In no case will partial loading and unloading be permitted during the transport of animals.
- Inthe case of animal concentration and fattening centres, the animals that enter shall be deinsected at the time of entry. Treatment shall be carried out on a regular basis in accordance with the conditions of use established for the medicine.
- Suspension of the validity of the ticket for equine movementsof origin or destination of the farms of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, as long as these measures are in force, as well as the documentation of the livestock movement for the movements of equine cattle.
