GOIDI, A YEAR: A CHRONOLOGY OF THE DAY WHEN EVERYTHING FAILED
The fateful morning of 29 October began with heavy rains and several alerts from the meteorological services, but neither the institutions nor the citizens were able to foresee how difficult the situation would be.
It is one year since the tragedy that left 229 dead in the Valencian Community. Despite the weather forecasts of the first hour of 29 October, the protocols failed and the scale of the tragedy exceeded all forecasts.
This is the chronology of the day the GOIDI burst:

AEMEThadpreviously planned rains, but at this exact time, around 06:40 hours, it updated the orange alert and the Port Authority ordered the port to close . Shortly afterwards, at 07:30 hours, it raised the red warning level to the north. From then on, the agency gradually extended the red alert to more parts of Valencia and began to accumulate storm water.

At this hour one of the images of the day reached us: the ravine of the Poyo River in Chiva overflowed, causing the Horta Sud region to be flooded. Half an hour later, in Utiel, the Magro River overflowed, and the University of Valencia stopped all activity.

AEMET released a video warning of "extreme risk," while in several municipalitiesthey ran outof light and lost phone coverage and .

The first words of Mazon, who, through a tweet, announced that the storm would subside at 6 p.m. Shortly afterwards, the message was deleted by the President of Valencia.

The intensity of the rains reached its peak,the accumulations of water and were huge, all records were broken, and many points in Valencia were completely flooded.

New emergency warningin the vicinity of the Magro and Júcar rivers, where it had already been reported that the rivers had overflowed.

Again, the Poyo River Road overflowed in Torrent and caused flooding in Paiporta, Picanya, Sedavi and Catarroja. At the end of the day, the disaster was terrible: thousands of people were trapped in roads and shopping malls, bridges began to fall... The rain caused enormous damage to parks, streets, housing and infrastructure.
