Seven Basque women killed by male violence in 2025
The victims include four women killed by their partners, a minor girl murdered by her father and two older women killed by their children.

Despite growing awareness of violence against women through the feminist struggle, it is not easy to put male violence behind us. For years, both public and private organizations have been improving education campaigns and victim care services, but cases are not falling.
In the ACV alone,the Ertzaintza has received almost 6,000 complaints of male violence between January and October.
January 3: A 63-year-old man was arrested in Barakaldoon charges of beating to death the mother of 84 .
A 57-year-old man was arrested in Irunon charges of murdering his 74-year-old mother. Hilketa was considered a domestic violence.
April 25: A man was arrested in Haro, La Rioja , for murdering his 36-year-old partner, originally from Vitoria.
May 30: A man commits suicide in the Rekalde neighborhood of Bilbao after killing his 13-year-old daughter and injuring her partner, the girl's mother .
June 7: A 47-year-old man was arrested in Marbella, Malaga for killing his 53-year-old partner, a Vitorian.
July 29: A 85-year-old man was arrested in Zizur Mayorfor murdering his 78-year-old wife , who was sentenced to house arrest.
October 15: A 47-year-old man was arrested in Zarautzfor murdering his 53-year-old partner.
It should also be borne in mind that seven other Basque women died last year as a result of male violence.
Withregard to the Spanish State , since the data began to be recorded on 1 January 2003, 1,333 women have died as a result of gender-based violence.
There is no such record in the French state, but last year 107 women were murdered by their partners.
