Today begins the trial of Pablo González in Poland on charges of espionage
The journalist was arrested on the border between Ukraine and Poland in February 2022, a few days after Russia invaded Ukraine, accused of being a spy of the Russian secret service.

The trial of Pablo González, a Basque journalist accused of espionage for Russia, will begin this Tuesday in Warsaw, Poland, facing a three-to-fifteen year prison petition.
Gonzalez was arrested by the Polish secret services in February 2022, a few days after Russia invaded Ukraine as Russia's spy.
Released in August 2024ina prisoner exchange handi between Western countries and Russia, was received by Russian PresidentVladimir Putin at Moscow airport, where he has since resided.
When he is charged with a serious offence, he must be at least at a first hearing to hear the charges against him.
However, his lawyer has advanced that Gonzalez will not go.
If the journalist doesn't appear at the trial, the court can continue the proceedings or send aninternational arrest warrant to Interpol.
