2025: A year marked by tragedy on the roads, especially in Navarre
In 2025, 90 people died in traffic accidents in Hego Euskal Herria, 47 of them in Navarre.
The year 2025 has left a tragic balance on the roads of Hego Euskal Herria, with 90 people killed inroad accidents, making the latter one of the deadliest years, especially in Navarra, where accidents have risen dramatically.
In fact, 47 people have died in 2025 in Navarre, 23 more than in 2024 , so it has almost doubled the deaths of the previous year. To find similar data, we should go back to 2007 , when 50 people died; that is, the sum of deaths between 2023 and 2024 is not close to the figure left by 2025.
The data are far from theobjectives set out in the Foral Police Strategic Plan , which set a maximum of 15 deaths as a milestone, a figure far exceeded.
The Basque Country has also ended the year with an increase in the number of victims of road accidents, with 43 deaths on Basque roads by 2025, six more than in 2024; 17 in Álava, 17 in Gipuzkoa and 9 in Bizkaia.
