The Mugaziklo bicycle project will create 26 new kilometres between Navarre, Gipuzkoa and New Aquitaine
This cross-border cooperation project, which aims to promote sustainable mobility, will be developed until 2029. Of the planned 26 kilometres, the first part will be developed by Navarre, between Tafalla and Olite, while the GggGipuzkoa will make a bike and pedestrian route between Errenteria and Irun.
The cross-border cooperation project Mugaziklo, presented on Monday in Pamplona (Navarre), which will create 26 kilometres of new cycling routes between Navarre, Gipuzkoa and New Aquitaine, an institutional initiative aimed at promoting sustainable mobility, which will be developed until 2029 with a budget of almost EUR 6 million.
These 26.6 kilometres of new bike lanes will be developed over the next four years . Specifically, Navarra will make the first stretch between Tafalla and Olite. Gipuzkoa will build a pedestrian bike lane between Errenteria and Irun. The Department of the Atlantic Pyrenees will enable eight safe bicycle parking spaces in Hendaia, Uztaritz or Kanbo.
The presentation was attended by the Territorial Cohesion Adviser, Oscar Chivite, the Member of Parliament of Gipuzkoa, Jose Ignacio Asensio, and the Councillor of Montagne Basque, Annick Trunde-Idiart.
