A landslide has completely cut off road GI-631 between Zumarraga and Azkoitia
The GI-631 road between Azkoitia and Zumarraga (Gipuzkoa) has been completely cut off by a landslide . Traffic is being diverted from the GI-3750, above Elosu.
The detachment has taken place in the area where the road is being extended. Throughout the morning several explosions have been controlled. One of them has moved a large number of stones and land, broken the protective fence and fell on the road, cutting the two lanes completely. The detachment has also broken the pretile separating the road from the Urola River.
Until the road is opened, traffic is being diverted from the GI-3750, above Elosu. As for public transport, the bus from Zumaia to Zumarraga will travel through the A-636, AP-1 and AP-8 between Urretxu and Azkoitia.
The Department of Safety and Security doesn't know when the road can be reopened.
The last one was on August 27 and the road was closed for several hours.
