The Arga, Ega and Ebro rivers have been flooded over the weekend. There has been heavy rainfall, rain has fallen uninterrupted, so some roads have been cut off and continue, just as some parks and land near the river are flooded.
The Ebro is still on orange level in Castejón, with a pre-alert height of 6.51 metres, and has been close to reaching the red level. The situation has stabilized in recent hours, but Foral Police and emergency teams are monitoring it closely.
In Álavathe main concern is in the villages around the Ulibarri reservoir, which in recent hours has tripled the amount of water it releases and is alert to the overflow of the Zadorra River.
According to the Basque agency URA, there is no risk and all the protocols are being complied with, but although they have been draining water all weekend, more water has entered than has come out, it is already at acompliance level of 89%, and the forecast is that it will rain a lot this morning.
On Saturday the Ulibarrireservoir released 15 cubic metres of water per second, on Sunday morning it passed 24 cubic metres, and after Sunday noon it was releasing 45 cubic metres of water. But the reservoir has been filled more over the weekend, rising from 86 per cent to almost 89 per cent, according to data from the Ebro Water Confederation.
According to the Basque agency URA, for the time being, in the vicinity of the reservoir, the watersof Mendibil, Durana or Garraman have not overflowed.
