The Ertzaintza has been charged with causing a serious testicular injury to a male in Sestao
Security Counselor Bingen Zupiria has asked to appear before the Security Committee of the Basque Parliament to explain what happened.
A woman reported to the Ertzaintza last Saturday morning in Sestao for causing serious injuries to a man's testicles.
The Basque Government's Department of Security has stated in a statement that three pedestrians — the complainant and two other men — hit a patrol car with no Ertzaintza badges on a zebra pass. Two plainclothes officers inside came out of the vehicle and confronted them with extendable truncheons.
A Ertzaintza patrol then went to the scene and arrested the two males, aged 19 and 22, and the woman in 51, accused of an attack on authority.
As a result of the blows, the woman and one of the men were taken to the hospital, where the latter was operated on for his testicular injury.
The Ertzaintza has opened an internal investigation to clarify what happened, and the Security Adviser, Bingen Zupiria, has requested the Security Committee of the Basque Parliament to appear for explanations.
