On the second day of the trial, the Ertzainas found and identified the defendants as they fled the homophobic attack site on 6 June 2021.
The first Ertzainas who went to Basauri Park where the homophobic attack on Ekain Perrino took place searched for the eleven defendants and identified them shortly after the attack.
Since yesterday, 11 persons have been tried in the Bizkaia Territorial Court fora crime of homophobic assault onthe victim (he was 23 years old at the time of the incident) in the early morning of 6 June 2021 in an area of Bizkotxalde Park.
At the beginning of the trial, the victim met all the defendants who beat him to death while shouting "dirty faggot . "Moreover, his late partner declared yesterday that he had thrown himself on the young man to protect him with blows, adding that if he did not, he would be killed.
According to the trial, the defendants were located and identified while fleeing the scene with a large loudspeaker and guitar, according to which they were subsequently able to verify at the police station that many of them had a police record of crimes against property.
The prosecutionrequests three years' imprisonment for each of the eleven defendants for hate injury offences and a five-year restraining order, as well ascompensationfor moral damages of €6,000.
The Public Prosecutor's Office, for its part, requeststhree years for the defendants 10, who were 18 and 27 years old at the timeofthe attack, for the offences of hate injury, and 18 months for the other defendant.
