The Basque Government declares 20 November Trans Memory Day
The Decree has been drawn up in collaboration with associations and social organizations, including Naizen, Errespeto and Loratuz Lotu, which have participated, inter alia, in the proposal and consensus of the date chosen.
The Governing Council this Tuesday approved the decree commemoratingthe Trans Memory Day of the Basque Country on 20 November , which has been described as"a new step in the visibility of trans people".
Itsaim is to set adate for the commemoration and recognition of the memory of transsexuals in the CAPV, thus developing the provisions of Law 4/2024, adopted on 15 February, on non-discrimination on the grounds of gender identity.
Specifically, article 6 of the Act urges the Basque public administrations to workon the recovery and dissemination of memory trans , as well as to promote memory days and recognition points .

It aims to "strengthen institutional commitment" to a fairer, more inclusive society and more respectful of diversity.
With the declaration of Trans Memory Day, the Basque Government wants to preserve the memory of those who have suffered discrimination, invisibility or violations of rights on the basis of gender identity, while promoting a "more pluralistic and democratic" ACV.
