The Eureka Science Museum! will close its doors at the end of June, after 25 years of activity, as announced by the Kutxa Foundation. The decision is part of the strategic transformation process initiated in 2021 with the aim of adapting scientific dissemination to newer models.
The Foundation emphasizes that this is not a move, but the end of a stage and the current exhibition format. Throughout its career, the museum has been a reference in Gipuzkoa, bringing science students and families closer to generations, but they believe that its model has limits to connecting with more diverse audiences.
In a context where scientific outreach is evolving towards more educational, technological and social participation formats, the Kutxa Foundation is committed to more flexible and dynamic proposals.
Withregard to the future of the Miramon space , the organization will report later. The main focus of this new phase will be the ATENEA project, which will have a presence in Tabakalera and will propose a more open and interdisciplinary model of knowledge.
ATHENA is conceived as an ecosystem that combines science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, fostering creativity and critical thinking. The goal is to promote intergenerational learning, combining professional experience and innovation among young generations.
